With us all leading ever busier lives, it becomes harder to find time to achieve our 150 minutes of weekly aerobic exercise. We are all needing the great benefits of exercise more though: increased strength, cardiac fitness, imporved sleep and general well being.
WorkStrong are celebrating the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy's WorkOut@Work Day by working with staff at Arriva Trains Wales in cardiff to assess thier fitness and give advice about how they can increase the amount of exercise that they include within theri normal working day.
Simple techniques such as leaving the bus or car earlier and walking into work can dramatically increase the amount of walking undertaken over a week. Leaving the desk at lunchtime for a walk outside or around the office is better than staying at the desk. There is always the option of stairs over the lift and the more stairs you climb the more exercise you are doing.
