Physiotherapy in the Workplace

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) account for 49% of all sickness absence in the EU, with 60% of permanent absence from work resulting from MSD. A Health & Safety Executive report concluded that 1 million people in the UK are affected by MSD resulting in 11.6 million working days lost. Physiotherapists can bring key skills and expertise to the workplace to identify, manage and prevent MSDs and so offer significant returns on the investment that is made.

An Occupational Physiotherapist can deliver a range of clinical and occupational services to small, medium and large companies.

Their musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation skills facilitate a holistic approach to staff injury and absences so reducing time off due to musculoskeletal sickness and direct support of employees with chronic conditions such as arthritis that fall within the disability discrimination act.
