On-Site Physiotherapy

 

In September 2006 we were asked to develop an on-site physiotherapy service of a national steel processing company, whose annual absentee levels were approximately 12%.

We provided one session of physiotherapy a week at their site and any equipment that was needed. Uptake of the service was good and through working closely with the HR and line managers we offered assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of both cumulative and acute musculoskeletal injuries. The cause of the injuries were both work and non-work related.

The presence of an onsite physiotherapist allowed for employees to be fully rehabilitated within their working environment. Therefore, allowing for workplace ergonomic and manual handling risk factors to be highlighted, so reducing reinjury rates.

Six months after starting the service, the company reported a reduction in annual sickness absence to around 3%.

Understandably we continue to work closely with this company to the present day.
